Okami Canine Warriors Sketches

Firstly: Sorry for the bad quality. These were originally sketches, so they were done in pencil and didn't show up very well when scanned. I had to auto correct using adobe, and some came out better than others. I'm also a lefty so me and graphite pencils never get along.

Anyway, I am working on a project involving these guys. We'll see how it goes. I'm going to try and work on a black and white comic, so I wanted to sketch them out while looking at reference pictures for their breeds to make it so that they'd be more recognizable and realistic. Some were obviously easier to draw than others. Poor Shin looks like a great dane, but he actually looked more like a dane in the game than he did a boxer imo.

Also Kei is a tosa-ken and while depicted as super wrinkly in game, in the reference pics they kinda look more like, I dunno. Any other hunting/fighting breed without tons of wrinkles. Chi is also obviously adorable. She's my favorite. Even in the sketches Ko comes off as smarmy.

As for the other 3 warriors, I wanted to focus more on the start on the Kusa 5 because the others (Ume, Hayabusa, and Take) are pretty well fleshed out in the game.

So yeah. I'm hoping I can do a comic and stick to it without getting overly frustrated. I'm sure all 2 of the people that like my artwork are on the edge of their seats right now.
